Come See

Thanks to Mrs. Petrin, we are the lucky hosts to a traveling exhibit from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Five professional museum panels depict a history of the abolition of slavery in America, in an exhibit entitled "Free at Last."

Social studies classes will be signing up for viewing times. There is a teacher's guide with background information and activity ideas that staff may borrow.

We welcome all GMS staff, students, and parents to visit the library and view this exciting and important exhibit.

Want to Win $500?

What are the 2 most important qualities a United States president should have? Why? What impact will the new president have on you, your family, and your community? How would you convince someone you know that it is important to vote in the election for President of the United States?

Spend some time thinking about this, and you might win a $500 savings bond! Students are invited to sign up with Ms. Shtulman in the library for the League of Women Voters essay contest. We’ll spend a little time learning about the job of the president, we’ll look at past winning essays, and we’ll write. We’ll meet during Flex 1.

The contest deadline is March 5th.
