In Hole in my Life, Jack makes a decision not to take drugs in jail, even though they're available everywhere. On p. 166 he writes, "I figured getting out of prison was more important than getting high in prison."

In "a hole in my life" it's important to jack that he is on his best behavior. He thinks it's important to him that he stays out of trouble so the judge might let him get out early. Instead of serving a 6 year bid.
It's important to me to stay out of trouble too. If I get in to any more trouble I will go back to lock up. I'm in almost the same situtation, one more slip up and I'm gone for a little while.

What’s important is not to do drugs. I think that he should not do drugs in jail because he could probably get out of jail early. If he does do drugs in jail he would extend his time. He turned to be an x-ray picture person. This guy comes up to him and says “I did drugs and if I get caught they will extend my time.”
What’s important to me is not to steal. One night I was out stealing bikes and the cop comes up and says “Where’d you get the bike” and I said “it was free.” So the cops found the other kids and talked to them and they said the same thing. So after they handcuffed me into the back of the car and drove me home. When I got there my mom was shocked. She wasn’t mad at all until the cop set the court date. I will never do this again because if I do I will go to lock up. This taught me a lesson to never do it again.
